London 2024

Year 6 travelled to London for their residential

Year 6 took travelled to London for a jam-packed residential! After leaving school and arriving in London, they had lunch in Russel Square, followed by time in the British Museum exploring the many artefacts. This was followed by a trip to the Sea Life Centre where the children got to hold empty shark eggs, wave at the stingrays and see the penguins. After that, we went to the hotel to drop off our bags and some children may have caught up on the football action before heading to dinner!

The next day, we filled up on breakfast, and it was off to the Natural History Museum.  Some of Miss Cope's group loved the room about insects- but it was mostly for the air conditioning as it was really hot! From there we walked next door to the Science Museum, where we visited the Wonder Labs. In this area of the museum, the children were allowed to explore all elements of science, such as gravity, electricity, photography and light and solids, liquids and gases. They were also able to have live demonstrations on different topics. We then had some time in Hyde Park to enjoy the sunshine before our Pizza Hut buffet! Then it was off to the Cambridge Theatre to watch Matilda the Musical.

On our final day, everyone was rather tired, but were soon woken up, when thrown into the magic of Shrek's Adventure!  We then took our flight on the London Eye seeing the whole of the skyline - some of the children were amazed that it wasn't supposed to be a permanent attraction in London.  After lunch, it was on to our cruise on the River Thames seeing Tower Bridge, the Tower of London and Tate Modern along the way. We then said goodbye, as it was time to hop back on the coach and make our way back to Southfields!

What a busy residential! A big thank you to Miss Tangl for organising it all!
